William Telling rose in the late 1880s from a kid in a large family maintaining a modest farm in South Euclid to become a multi-millionaire. He built what in today's money would be a $10-million estate on that property in the late 1920s. This property at 4645 Mayfield Road is a national historic landmark and home to the South Euclid - Lyndhurst Historical Society Museum and the soon-to-be-opened Museum of American Porcelain Art (MAPA).
This presentation has been produced by the South Euclid - Lyndhurst Historical Society with information from society archives. Added research was provided by the Cuyahoga County Public Library South Euclid-Lyndhurst Branch librarians and the historian of the Cleveland Architectural Society.
The presentation is only lightly edited from the original slide show and text.
